The Stranger

After a noticeable delay a short gaunt man with glasses answers the door

“Ah I am so glad you made it, not only did you respond to my message, but you traveled all the way here. I didn’t think anyone would text that number I engraved into the bottom of that rock, and then trust the person enough to go to their residence like this. You must really be starving for adventure, but nevertheless I welcome you to the Colt household”

The man motions you to come inside his home

“I hope you did as directed and let your loved ones know where you are. I don’t want anyone thinking I’m a murderer or anything like that, that simply would make of mess of things for me.”

“I suppose I should introduce myself I am Agustin Colt, sole heir of the Colt household, and you are?”

You pause for a moment trying to remember your name

Your Name (Change the note name to your preferred name)

“Well Your Name, I am excited to give you the opportunity of a lifetime, how about you have a seat with me to talk”

After gesturing towards the chair beside you, which faces him, Mr. Colt sits down in the recliner next to the fireplace.

A warmth pours over your skin as you smell the sweet white floral scent in the air.

“So,” Mr. Colt says as he clasps his hands together, “I image you have questions. Most people would. I know I did, once”

His gaze shifts to the mantle, resting on a leather tome which rests neatly upon it

“I’m definitely not going to claim that I can answer all of them, and frankly I might not even try. I think that answering every question squanders the magic of something. But I will tell you this much, what’s on the other side is real. Not a trick or hallucination, and it needs someone who still wants it.”

He pauses for a brief period before letting out a little sigh, and cleans his lenses

“I’m afraid that I am fresh out of wanting these, days” He remarks, letting out a short, embarrassed laugh

“Listen to me, rambling on with a bunch of nonsense. The point is, I left some notes where I think the right people would look, and here you are. That has to mean something, like fate or something, right?”

“Well, enough exposition, I guess I should let you hold it”

Mr. Colt takes the large tome from the mantel and hands it to you, its weight rests in your hands with a faint uneven vibration emanating from its cover.

The cover of the book has a window gazing upon a planet spinning on its axis, slowly pulsating with a purple-blue light

You then notice as the hum becomes a rhythmic beat mimicking your own heartbeat

“Oh, yes, it does that” he says, noticing your expression. “Don’t worry, it probably won’t hurt you, well at least he hasn’t hurt me. It’s just … aware. I suppose, in that it reacts differently to you, depending on your will.”

“It being the book, or rather the world inside it, but you will understand soon enough.” He giggles a bit ” That is if you decide to walk through…”

Mr. Colt then points at the door, a shimmering prismatic gate forms in its place, crackling as it appears.

There is a thick scent of ozone that overwhelms the room as it opens.

Through the portal, you see a gazebo with a golden, metallic ocean lapping on the shore nearby

A neatly prepared desk sits empty with its chair waiting to be filled.

“So are you ready for an adventure of your own design?”

Do you walk though the portal?

Or get out of there as fast as you can…
